A little about Me...

Hi, I’m Maryam Qureshi — a psychologist and the founder of MQ Psychology. I completed my Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at Curtin University, where my honours research explored the relationship between loneliness, spirituality, and mental health. I really enjoyed honours. The research really deepened my interest in the human experience, the importance of feeling connected, understood, and emotionally supported and the difference with being 'alone' and the feeling of being 'lonely'.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults across a range of areas including anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional regulation difficulties, eating disorders, relationship challenges, and neurodivergence such as ADHD and autism, among others. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals who are navigating the relationship between culture, faith, identity, and the community around them.

My approach to therapy is warm, down-to-earth, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I draw from therapies such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and Schema Therapy.  I also believe that feeling comfortable, safe, and genuinely heard in the therapy room is important. I see therapy as a space to better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and build practical ways of coping and moving forward.

Alongside private practice, I’ve worked across multidisciplinary allied health settings, child protection, and research roles, including contributing to research at The Kids Research Institute Australia focused on children’s social and emotional wellbeing. I also have experience supporting individuals and families accessing services through the NDIS.

Compassionate Framework

I believe in meeting you exactly where you are, providing a space that feels safe, validating, and deeply human within your therapeutic journey.

At MQ Psychology, the practice is built on the foundation of Australian professional psychology standards (AHPRA) integrated with a trauma-informed and neuro-affirming approach. We recognise that healing isn't a linear path, and therapy is a process. Whether you are navigating anxiety, trauma, or exploring your neurodivergent identity, our priority is to foster a relationship based on trust, transparency, and genuine emotional safety. Every session is held with deep respect for your individual agency, providing a warm, professional environment for meaningful reflection and growth.
